Assigned Teachers:
Intro
today’s activity, we’ll build our own miniature Vesak lanterns—with one fun rule!
The Challenge: A4 Size Limit!
Your finished lantern must fit entirely within an A4 sheet of paper (21 x 29.7 cm).
You can use any materials—sticks, paper, card, tissue—but your lantern should be:
Small enough to sit on top of an A4 sheet without going outside the edges.
Meant to be viewed or gently lit like a traditional Vesak lantern.
You will need:
Tissue paper or colored tracing paper
• Glue or tape
• Scissors
• Ekel / iratu sticks
• Ruler and pencil (optional)
• A4 check sheet for sizing
• Optional: string for hanging or LED tealight
Guide
Design & Build
Create a small lantern using geometric shapes (like squares, stars, or cubes). Keep it light and strong.
2. Decorate
Add colored tissue, fringe, or cutouts. Let it glow!
3. Size Check & Display
Place your finished lantern on the A4 check sheet. If it fits—great! We’ll display all entries and celebrate with fun categories like:
• Most Colorful
• Most Creative
• Best Use of Space
Celebrate the Light!
Every lantern is unique. This is about sharing light, not winning.
At the end, we’ll admire everyone’s designs and enjoy how small things can shine big!
